Inspired by the ballet La Sylphide and the romantic tutu worn by Marie Taglioni in the original production. Keen to demonstrate her excellent en pointe work she cut the hem of her skirt to expose her ankles, an act considered scandalous in the 1830's. This is mirrored in the Sylph Skirt which is midi length, finishing just above the ankle.
Fully gathered double-layered tie waist skirt. The inner layer is hand-dyed cotton muslin and the outer is 100% silk tulle in almost black with bleach dip dye. Can be worn alone, as a skirt, or underneath a dress as a petticoat.

Important Care Instructions
This garment is a complete one-off and hand dyed/printed/painted. It will never be made exactly the same again and it needs to be treated with care.
Take care to not over-launder. Choose to spot clean or even just hang out in the breeze to refresh it.
If needed wash by hand in cool water with a very mild detergent. Do not leave to soak for too long. Wring out gently and hang to dry. Can be ironed with medium heat.
Although all dyes and prints have been heat sealed to stay on the fabric excessive washing will cause them to fade over time.
