'On this plain house where I

Dwell and shall doubtless die

As did my plain forefathers in times past

I see the willow’s light-limbed shadow cast.'

― Sylvia Townsend Warner

Inspired by the poet Sylvia Townsend Warner and her love for Dorset and Valentine Ackland.

It's a design that although overtly feminine, with a full gathered skirt, can be worn in a casual, androgynous way. T-shirt shape top with dropped shoulder and short sleeves, with a gathered skirt at the low waistline. Their is a drawstring tie at the seam meaning the style can be pulled in to fit your waist, or worn loose .

This version features cut-work applique on the bodice of snapshots inspired by Lady Ottoline Morrel's collection; blurred black and white images of her little girl in the orchard mounted onto now faded sugar paper, with her handwritten caption beneath.

This dress is made from 100% silk organza in deep, inky, indigo, almost dark navy, blue.

    Important Care Instructions

This garment is hand dyed/printed/painted- it needs to be treated with care.

Take care to not over-launder. Choose to spot clean or even just hang out in the breeze to refresh it.

If needed wash by hand in cool water with a very mild detergent. Do not leave to soak for too long. Wring out gently and hang to dry. Can be ironed with medium heat.

Although all dyes and prints have been heat sealed to stay on the fabric excessive washing will cause them to fade over time.
