Named after a painting by Leonora Carrington, The Giantess (The Guardian of the Egg) 1947
"... it’s a sort of a giantess with a moonlike face in a field of wheat which is also golden hair."
Sheer silk organza smock top. Gathered, square shape with a smock line on the bust and gathered balloon-like sleeves that have been gathered into the cuff. The front bodice features an appliqued panel of pintucks and the back bodice features a free-hand embroidered poem excerpt inspired by the works of Leonora Carrington:
Our story begins with a girl sitting under a fig tree ripe with promise. As she explores the kitchen garden and grows into The Giantess she is visited by Leonora and Christabel who are no longer strangers. Now an old maid she understands what her aunt Eliza had meant about dissolving and she welcomes the rhododendrons with wide, open arms.
Designed to be worn as a top layer over trousers and a top or over another dress to add extra volume and texture. Made in 100% silk organza featuring contrast colour stitching.
